2nd Annual "Chasing" Bubbles Regatta

Date: Early April 2025 (final dates coming soon!)

Location: British Virgin Islands (BVI)

Set sail with us for the 2nd Annual Chasing Bubbles Regatta, a high-energy, free-to-enter sailing rally where adventurers from all over the world will be chasing S/V Bubbles through the breathtaking waters of the British Virgin Islands! Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or new to the scene, this event is all about having fun, celebrating the spirit of community, and keeping Captain Alex Rust’s legacy alive.

Event Overview

3 Days. 3 Legs. Endless Fun. This isn't your traditional regatta – it’s a fun, free-spirited event that combines competition with camaraderie, as boats race alongside each other while taking on SeaPeople app challenges. Each day will feature a different leg, with locations kept under wraps until race day. Along the way, you'll be challenged with quirky tasks and enjoy the lively energy of sailors from all corners of the globe.

No Boat? No Problem!

You don’t need to own a boat to join in the fun! There will be plenty of opportunities to charter boats or even hop on a crew. This event is all about bringing people together, whether you're an experienced sailor or taking the helm for the first time.

We are still putting together charter options. If you are interested in joining or chartering a boat reach out to captain@chasingbubbles.org!

Highlights from Last Year:

The Inaugural Chasing Bubbles Regatta in 2024 was a huge success, with sailors from all over the world – including South Africa, the USA, Australia, and the UK – coming together to compete, share stories, and have a blast. Here’s a quick look at how it went down:

  • Floatchella Kickoff: Day 1 started with a raft-up party hosted by Sascha and Raf from Spear It Animal, featuring music, drinks, and lots of laughs as sailors got to know their fellow competitors.

  • The Race Begins: Over the next three days, boats chased S/V Bubbles through the BVI. With SeaPeople app challenges adding unexpected twists, sailors competed in legs that took them from Gorda Sound to Scrub Island, Scrub Island to Willy T’s, and finally Willy T’s to Nanny Cay.

  • SeaPeople Challenges: Mid-race tasks like crew selfies, hot sauce shots, and even dragging crew members behind the boat kept things exciting and hilarious.

What to Expect in 2025:

  • Day 1: Floatchella

We’ll kick off the regatta with another epic Floatchella raft-up at a secret location. Expect good vibes, drinks, music, and time to meet your salty comrades before the races begin.

  • Days 2-4: The Chase Begins!

Each morning, Bubbles will take the lead across the starting line, and the fleet will follow. Sailors will track their times and race to the next island, with each leg bringing new challenges and scenic routes. And don’t worry – SeaPeople challenges are back to keep you on your toes (or off your boat!).

  • Prizes & Trophies

At the end of each leg, prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers, with a Grand Champion crowned on the final day. Creative efforts and good sportsmanship will also be rewarded in true Bubbles fashion!
