Although Alex's journey on this earth has ended, he continues to travel
through the elements around us, and, of course, his spirit remains present
in our every-day lives.
Varanasi and the Holy River Ganges
Alex chased his final dream while searching for a way to help orphans in the remote regions of northern India. After falling sick with typhoid, Alex traveled to the holy city of Varanasi, where his adventure on this earth came to an end. As part of the Hindu customs of Varanasi, his brothers spread some of his ashes in the holy river Ganges.
Infinity, and Beyond!
Alex's remaining ashes were sent to space on the Celestis Heritage Flight as part of the first Falcon Heavy rocket night launch, fulfilling his lifelong dream of travelling to space. At a beautiful event at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, friends and family of Alex gathered to watch as Alex's ashes were launched into orbit. The spacecraft still orbits the earth and the location of the Heritage Flight can be tracked here.
A backup portion of his ashes were sent home to his mom in southern Indiana, completing his return to the elements: fire, water, air, and earth.
