S/V Bubbles, more than Just a boat
The past, present and future of the world-famous 1983 39' fast passage 39
The inspiring story of Captain Alex Rust, as documented in `Chasing Bubbles', co-stars S/V Bubbles, the 39' Fast Passage that carried Alex and beloved crew around the world and to more places than most sailboats have seen.
After completing circumnavigation in 2012, she floated through the hands of a few other owners until the Chasing Bubbles Foundation tracked down S/V Bubbles in the USVIs in 2021. Then, on June 14th (Alex's birthday) of 2022, ten years after completing the circumnavigation, CBF bought her back! Since then we have been working hard on a complete restoration with the help of volunteers, fans, dreamers, and generous donors.
A huge THANK YOU to Christine Gordon, Joe Bushneck, and many others who put in blood, sweat and tears to get Bubbles back to her original glory. Read more about that process and meet the team that pulled off a miracle in reviving Bubbles.
"Bubbles is more than just a boat...
... Bubbles is an idea, a journey. And just as bubbles float through the air with that magical shine that captivates a small child, so did this trip unlock the magic and small child in each of us.
Float on, Bubbles…float on.”
~Alex Rust

Bubbles features the sunken deckhouse option, offering a private cabin on the port side with ample storage. The double berth is cozy enough for two, with excellent insulation and ventilation despite the engine's proximity.
On the starboard side, you'll find the forward-facing navigation desk, perfect for quick access to the cockpit or galley. The head/shower arrangement is centrally located for convenience, utilizing the beamiest part of the boat.
The traditional U-shaped galley provides a secure work area while underway. Moving into the salon, two settees offer seaworthy bunks, with the V-berth set up as a double/queen or two twin beds, depending on your needs.

For added comfort, Bubbles is equipped with fans, GFci outlets, and reading lights throughout. On deck, you'll enjoy a sun-protective bimini, Lewmar winches, and a full suite of Garmin electronics.
In addition to her mainsail and jib, Bubbles also carries a staysail that hanks onto a removable forestay.
